locality
Hartigova Street in Prague is one of the most important streets in Žižkov and also one of the longest streets in Prague. Its length is about 3.3 km. The street's name commemorates the first mayor of Žižkov, Karel Hartig.
The street runs through almost the entire Žižkov. It begins as a continuation of Husitská Street near Tachovského náměstí and rises slightly in a roughly easterly direction, passes through the northern edge of Žižkov under the Vítkov ridge to the Ohrada intersection. Beyond it, it continues east to Jeseniova Street, where it begins to descend slightly, and continues through Jarov to the junction of Českobrodská and Spojovací streets, where it ends.
From the Ohrada intersection, a tram line runs through the middle of the street, ending in a loop behind the intersection with Spojovací. The street is mainly built up with apartment buildings, often with shops or service establishments on the ground floors.
