The history of the Břevnov district in Prague 6 dates back to the 10th century, when a well-known monastery was founded here, which served as a center of culture and trade. There were extensive vineyards in the area around the historic Kajetánka estate. In 1907, this part was elevated to an independent city by Franz Josef I, and from 1921 it became part of Great Prague.
